1. Is this new school?

Yes, it is a new school.



2. Who are the teachers and will they get training?

Yes, we have a team consists of highly experienced and qualified teachers. And we have multiple experienced volunteers who showed interest. We will provide them the needed training for this Curriculum before start of the academic year.



3. What is the Class schedule, Start and End timing of the class and duration?

School starts on August 27th this year. There are two available official class slots for this year. One is on Friday evening and another is on Saturday afternoon. Each class duration is 90 minutes. Class start and End timings are being discussed and will be published as early as possible.



4. Can the student attend the class in other slot if they missed their assigned slot?

No, the teacher and students/parents decide their desired session and take that slot for that year. The student cannot expect another session if they missed the class.



5. Will there be 3 exams in a year?

Yes, there are three exams will be given yearly. There will be tests and quizzes periodically with homework and listening and speaking practices.



6. Will the kids who are already in Tamil class or having knowledge, go thru assessment process?

Yes, we will assess the kids to make sure they are placed in the appropriate level in our school.



7. Is there an entrance exam the kids need to take?

No, there is no entrance exam need to be taken by the kids.



8. Can college students join?

Yes, of course, We are working on aligning the classes to accommodate the kids age group and level of knowledge. So they can comfortably learn our language.



9. How the materials will be supplied, hard copies or soft copies?

Hard copy of books and workbooks and any other needed materials will be provided. Along with there are apps that are compatible with IOS and Android devices will be provided for the kids to practice and learn.



10. What is Seal of Bi-literacy and Accreditation process?

Seal of Bi-literacy
This Seal of Bi-literacy is acknowledged in state level. It is an award for a high school student (Both School districts and Charter schools) for being proficient on more than one language. Any State colleges and universities will award College semester credit for the student who received this seal.

Accreditation:
This is acknowledged by county school system and varies by each county. High school students can get language credits based on the level of credits they earn in the Tamil school. Colleges and Universities need placement test for proficiency before awarding the semester credits.



11. How the credits will be helpful for the kids?

Student who got the Seal of Biliteracy can be awarded credits for Second language in colleges/Universities.
Properly and timely provided Credits thru accreditation process, can help high school students gain high school Language credits.



12. Do we have license to administer the test to issue Seal of Bi-literacy? How do we help the kids to get this Seal of Bi-literacy certification?

As this is a new school, we neither have license to administer the test to get the Seal of Bi-literacy nor accreditation. If a kid is identified as qualified to take this exam, we will work with other approved test centers to get tested. We will be working towards get the license and Accreditation.



13. Is this school an independent entity or affiliated to Tamil Sangam? How it affects when new Tamil Sangam board take over the next year?

It is an Independent entity. This school will not be affected by changes in Tamil Sangam board.



14. Is this curriculum designed to focus on LSRW?

Yes, this curriculum is focused on LSRW concept.



15. Can we get an overview of the curriculum?

We are working diligently to provide another information about the Curriculum and syllabus. We will send out the details soon.



16. Should we enroll before or after the assessment?

Registration process provides all the information about the student that helps us assess and assign the students. We strongly encourage to register the student to get proper assessment.



17. If student performs well, can they move to next level in the same academic year?

Yes, we have a accelerated path that helps eligible kids to move to next level in the same academic year.



18. Can you differentiate between the existing school curriculum and this LSRW curriculum?

Our school curriculum follows listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The syllabus is designed to include these 4 components in the learning structure.



19. Can we give the option for a high school kids to teach and serve to get volunteer hours?

Currently we haven’t thought about this plan. But is is a great idea to think about in the near future.



20. If it is in person class, where the class will be?

For next 3 years, we are planning for Virtual classes. If we decided to have in-person classes, it will be in Cary/Morrisville/Apex.



21. How about homework policy?

We will have homework that emphasizes learning Listening, speaking, reading and writing. The amount of home work hasn’t been finalized yet. It will be available close to school start date.



22. Are there any constraints for number of school hours each student must attend in order to get the credits?

Yes, each student should have minimum number of hours in order to qualify for next levels. It is important to have healthy attendance which will have impact on acquiring Seal of Biliteracy and Accreditation processes.



23. Do we have Board structure or Principal and teacher hierarchy?

We do have a group of people working on to come up with our organization structure. It will be announced before the school year starts.

25. What is the exam and grading policy?

The grading will consist of Attendance, Homework, test and Quizzes and Exams.
